Protests Across Canada on July 24 Demanded End to Fighter Jet Purchase: Peace groups and concerned citizens across Canada held a National Day of Action “Strike for Climate Peace: No New Fighter Jets” on Friday, July 24, to oppose the Canadian government’s plan to spend $19 billion for 88 new fighter jets. Demonstrations took place outside of the offices of Members of Parliament of all the political parties including in Victoria, Vancouver, Regina, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax. The National Day of Action was organized by the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace, World BEYOND War, and Peace Brigades International-Canada. A couple of examples of the press coverage:
