On March 30, 2021, World BEYOND War (WBW) & Peace-Activism.org hosted an online info session to introduce The Peace Flag Project, a global peace art project conceived and organized by WBW California chapter member Runa Ray. The project is open to anyone around the world. It invites participants to submit canvases displaying what peace means to them. Watch the recording of the info session here to learn more about the initiative and how to get involved:
The Peace Flag Project works with the Sustainable Development Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong institutions. The first installment of the project was put on exhibit at City Hall in Half Moon Bay, California. Canvases collected from countries around the world will join the main flag, to be displayed annually at the United Nations, on the International Day of Peace on September 21. The flag connects 193 countries. As the flag continues to grow, every artwork and contributor becomes a part of its history.
Here is the simplified how-to guide shared during the info session. And here is a more technical version of the how-to guide. Details for postage reimbursement for the cost of shipping your canvas are included in the how-to guides.
Canvases submitted by May 30, 2021 will be included in the installation at the UN on the International Day of Peace this September 21, 2021. Canvases submitted after May 30 will be included at future installations of the project.
