The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) is guided by the vision of promoting global norms of disarmament and oversees efforts to deal with weapons of mass destruction and conventional arms and the arms trade.note7 The office promotes nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, strengthening of the disarmament regimes in respect to other weapons of mass destruction, and chemical and biological weapons, and disarmament efforts in the area of conventional weapons, especially landmines and small arms, which are the weapons of choice in contemporary conflicts.

weltweit werden gigantische finanzielle Mittel benötigt, um die durch die Corona-Pandemie in Not geratenen Menschen und Unternehmen unterstützen zu können. Weltweit wurde im letzten Jahr so viel für Rüstung ausgegeben wie nie zuvor. Könnten wir nicht über die UN ein weltweites Rüstungsmoratorium erwirken, um die durch die Pandemie verursachten Kosten bewältigen zu können?
