The Toronto WBW chapter relaunched this past Sunday with a well-attended bonfire at Dovercourt Park.
People were eager to get together and get organized in a moment when antiwar activism is as badly needed as ever.
We were grateful to hear from guest speakers from allied organizations including Voice of Women for Peace, Migrant Workers Alliance for Change, Spring, Independent Jewish Voices, International League of People’s Struggles and No One is Illegal.
Plans were made.
Some plans were very quickly acted upon with a rally held the very next day in Toronto:
We were live on CBC National News from outside the Israeli consulate this morning calling out Israel’s horrific violence in Gaza, the complicity of the Canadian state, and the role of Canadian weapons in the massacre of Palestinians. #StopArmingIsrael #FreeGaza #CeasefireNOW pic.twitter.com/ZfL6PesXA6

More coverage of today’s Toronto rally. As our WBW organizer explains outside the Israeli consulate “we won’t let their business as usual continue.. that looks like bombs falling on Gaza and thousands more killed.” We demand a ceasefire, arms embargo and end to the occupation. pic.twitter.com/51dQn9KoNA

Well over a thousand Jews and allies out blocking access to the Israeli consulate here in Toronto right now! We demand a #ceasefireInGazaNOW, an end to genocidal violence and for Canada to #StopArmingIsrael IMMEDIATELY. pic.twitter.com/p6YkmoMFTi
