On September 4th, 2022, activists from World BEYOND War, No New Fighter Jets Coalition, Independent Jewish Voices, Defund the Police Fund Our Communities, Canadian Defenders for Human Rights, and more gathered in downtown Toronto to protest the Toronto Airshow.
Activists spoke out in support of canceling the Toronto Airshow because it is military propaganda, it re-traumatizes victims of war, and it’s an attempt to literally sell the Canadian public on warplanes (the military wants to buy 88 new jets next year). Activists demonstrated with banners, leaflets, and free resources for passersby.
World BEYOND War Canada also launched a new petition to cancel the Toronto Air Show in an effort to reach the Toronto City Council, Mayor John Tory, Ontarian Provincial Legislators, and Ontarian Members of Parliament.
