World BEYOND War Board Member Yurii Sheliazhenko has delivered this message to the Israeli Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine:
The Ukrainian Pacifist Movement demands:
– The State of Israel must prevent the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip in compliance with the order of the International Court of Justice of 26 January 2024!
– The State of Israel must stop imprisonment of conscientious objectors to military service in accordance with the concluding observations of the UN Human Rights Committee of 05 May 2022!
התנועה הפציפיסטית האוקראינית דורשת:
– על מדינת ישראל למנוע פשיעה של רצח עם ברצועת עזה בהתאם להוראת בית הדין הבינלאומי מיום 26 בינואר 2024!
– על מדינת ישראל להפסיק את מאסרם של סרבני מצפון לשירות צבאי בהתאם להערות הסיכום של ועדת זכויות האדם של האו”ם מיום 5 במאי 2022!
Український Рух Пацифістів вимагає:
– Держава Ізраїль має запобігати злочину геноциду у Секторі Газа на виконання наказу Міжнародного суду ООН від 26.01.2024!
– Держава Ізраїль має припинити ув’язнення сумлінних відмовників від військової служби відповідно до заключних зауважень Комітету з прав людини ООН від 05.05.2022!

The situation in Ukraine is a dilemma for pacifists. We oppose evet form of war — but can we let bastards like Putin get away with grandscale murder?
No it’s not. If you recognize America’s aggression towards Russia and Ukraine then you would understand. 3 key points about American aggression that started this war. 1. Bush senior and Secretary of State Baker promised the Soviet Union they would not move NATO one step closer to Russia’s border. 2. The Maidan Coup by the U.S. with the help of the Ukrainian Nazi party to overthrow the elected Russian friendly Ukrainian president – Viktor Yanukovych. 3. The violation of the Minsk agreement by the West. 15,000 dead Russian speaking Ukrainians.

I think the situation with Ukraine/Russia, just like Palestine/Israel and numerous other conflicts around the world shows that the world as a whole needs to put far more effort into preventing conflict, instead of preparing for war. There is always a context and a background to all conflicts, in the case of Ukraine/Russia, and Palestine/Israel and numerous other conflicts around the world there were opportunities for a more peaceful path to have been walked, these were missed or actively worked against again and again. This is the situation we need to remedy. I still believe that the coming climate catastrophy offers hope for the future. To have a liveable future on this planet human beings need to start working together for the common good, honestly and without vested interest. All our intelligence and ingenuity needs to be focused on bringing about a liveable future for everybody. As far as I can see there is no other way, and looking around the globe I can see that this is what more and more people around the globe are uniting for.
