Korea Advocacy Week in U.S. Nov. 1-4 — by Zoom, Email, Phone

By Sally Jones, Peace Action New York State, October 24, 2021

We would like to invite those of you in the U.S. to join Peace Action NYS and the Korea Peace Now Grassroots Network for an Advocacy Week from November 1st through 4th. It’s easy. You can do it during the day or in the evening. You can do it from your home. And we will be doing it together!

We will be urging New York State Senators and members of Congress to support legislation for peace in Korea. (A good preparation would be to watch the short video of Hyun Lee’s presentation of the History of North Korea “Nuclear Crisis” and Q&A session. See link below.)

HOUSE BILLS:

➩H.R.3446 – Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act (NY co-sponsors: Meng, Suozzi, Maloney, Tonko)

➩H.R.1504 – Enhancing North Korea Humanitarian Assistance Act – House (no NY co-sponsors)

SENATE BILLS:

➩S.690 – Enhancing North Korea Humanitarian Assistance Act – Senate (no NY co-sponsors)

➩S.2688 – Korean War Divided Families Reunification Act (no NY co-sponsors)

HOW ADVOCACY WEEK WILL WORK:

➩➩From Nov. 1-4, we will hold two daily Zoom calls (one during the day and one in the evening). You may join one call or participate as much as you’d like!

➩➩Before Saturday, Oct. 31, register for the call here. Indicate which date(s) and time(s) you’d like to attend. Once you register, you’ll be sent a Zoom link.

➩➩At each session, we will hold an optional mini-training session on how to call and/or email your member of Congress. We will also provide a script for the phone call and a template for the email.

➩➩During the Zoom call, everyone will place themselves on mute while they call and/or email their member of Congress to ask them to support legislation for Korea peace.

➩➩➩ Register here TODAY.

Registration ends on October 31, 2021.

Thank you for supporting Korea Peace!
