La localidad de Soacha se encuentra ubicada en el departamento de Bogotá en Colombia, esta comunidad ha sido marcada por la violencia de un conflicto político, social y armado en Colombia con más de 60 años. La universidad UNIMINUTO a través de su programa de estudio de Psicología, invitó a Gabriel Aguirre, organizador para América Latina de World BEYOND War, para hablar sobre las experiencias de trabajo para abolir la guerra y construir una cultura de Paz.
El evento se realizó el martes 7 de Noviembre, y contó con la participación de los estudiantes de la universidad, así como con la presencia de varias organizaciones que realizan trabajos comunitarios para detener la violencia, promover el respeto a los derechos humanos, a la vida y ser constructores de Paz.
Durante la actividad, Gabriel Aguirre, tuvo oportunidad de compartir la misión y objetivos de World BEYOND War, cómo movimiento global para poner fin a la guerra, así como nuestra propuesta para construir un sistema de seguridad global alternativo, que tenga como centro la educación, el activismo y los medios de comunicación que contribuyan a crear una cultura de Paz.
En el marco del evento, los estudiantes firmaron la declaración de Paz, cómo una muestra del compromiso para acabar con las guerras, todas las formas de violencia, y ser agentes de cambio desde la acción de base para hacer posible una paz con justicia social.
Finalmente el desarrollo de esta iniciativa fue posible gracias a la profesora Paola Carvajal, quien es también una activista por la Paz y ha reafirmado nuestro compromiso por seguir trabajando juntos y acabar con todas las guerras y las violencias.
Work from the Grassroots to End War and Violence in Soacha

The town of Soacha is located in the department of Bogotá in Colombia, this community has been marked by the violence of a political, social and armed conflict in Colombia for more than 60 years. UNIMINUTO University, through its Psychology study program, invited Gabriel Aguirre, organizer for Latin America of World BEYOND War, to talk about work experiences to abolish war and build a culture of Peace.
The event took place on Tuesday, November 7, and had the participation of university students, as well as the presence of several organizations that carry out community work to stop violence, promote respect for human rights, life and be builders of Peace.
During the activity, Gabriel Aguirre had the opportunity to share the mission and objectives of World BEYOND War, as a global movement to end war, as well as our proposal to build an alternative global security system, with education as its center, activism and the media that contribute to creating a culture of Peace.
Within the framework of the event, the students signed the Peace declaration, as a sign of their commitment to end wars, all forms of violence, and be agents of change from grassroots action to make peace with social justice possible.
Finally, the development of this initiative was possible thanks to Professor Paola Carvajal and the students who are also activists for Peace and they reaffirmed the commitment to continue working together and end all wars and violence.
