UN Delegations Are Listening to Us on Gaza

World BEYOND War President Kathy Kelly has been fasting, demonstrating, and meeting at the United Nations with the delegations of various nations. Activists have held two vigils each day and met with the Missions of South Korea, Brazil, Venezuela, Greece, Ireland, Spain, Malta, the Holy See, Iran, Denmark, Russia, Mexico, and Slovenia.

Our general appeal can be read — and with the click of a button sent to numerous UN delegations — here.

You can add your own words, but it reads:

“I urge your country to move to convene an emergency session of the UN General Assembly and use Uniting For Peace (Resolution 377) to impose an arms embargo and targeted sanctions on the Israeli government, suspend the Israeli government from the United Nations, and send unarmed peacekeepers to Palestine.”

Thus far, nations have not committed to doing this, but have expressed interest, have taken the meetings, have listened attentively, and have suggested that they will be supportive of positive action.

We seem to be in need of one courageous leader, as South Africa led on taking the case to the International Court of Justice.

There’s some expectation that it should be the Palestinian delegation to lead. But what if it doesn’t? Does every UN member not have an obligation to uphold the rule of law in the face of the Rules Based Order?

Keep those emails going!

  1. UN peace-keeping force to seperate the warring parties made up of nations of the world not involved. Despite the rest of it.

  2. My heart breaks each time I hear of or think of the suffering in Palestine. I hardly know how to communicate or share the horror and sorrow I feel. The work of World Beyond War and the demonstrators all over the world is so wonderful. It offers a glimmer of hope that must eventually be felt by the Palestinian people themselves in the midst of their sorrow and pain.

How the world and I myself continue on as usual, I don’t know. It is in our nature to carry on, I suppose.

May the world awaken and act to end this horror. Truly Israel and the United States should both be suspended from the United Nations and all weapons distribution to Israel be boycotted and embargoed. U.N. peace making teams should be sent to Gaza if possible. I suppose I should be there also, on the ground in front of the Israeli forces protesting and lying down in front of their armaments. We remember Rachel Corrie! May Peace Prevail!

  3. The US and Israel should both face consequences for this ongoing genocide, ignoring the highest courts on Earth. I am too sick at heart to write more. Free Palestine ❤️

  4. I have Signed and Shared to five peace forums inviting people to Sign.

No country can be neutral in the context of genocide. To remain ‘neutral’ is to be complicit. Member states to the International Court of Justice are bound to take all necessary measures to stop or prevent genocide. A few countries have taken some action, minimal action. Most have done nothing. Some, such as the US, Germany, UK, Canada and Australia, have been proactive in supporting the genocide whether or not they deny it.
