Rotary Positive Peace Activator Leadership Summit Held in Nepal

By World BEYOND War, October 27, 2023

World BEYOND War Education Director, Phill Gittins, participated in the Rotary Positive Peace Activator Leadership Summit October, held in Nagarkot, Nepal, October 20 – 22, 2023.

The summit brought together 42 Rotary-IEP Positive Peace Activators from 25 countries, divided across 6 cohorts (West & Central Africa, East Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America). Activators explored a range of themes relevant to positive peace including leadership, resilience, community-building, communities of practice, future imaging, and more.

The summit provided a mix of academic, relational, and practical activities including expert presentations, networking, knowledge exchange sessions, strategic planning, reflective practice, experiential learning, and more. The summit served as a powerful reminder of the importance of face-to-face interactions and the need to attend to both the inner and outer dimensions of change work. Standout moments during the summit included the mountain trek and the opportunity to listen to, dialogue with, and learn from colleagues doing important work across the globe.

The summit was co-designed and facilitated by representatives from Rotary International and the Institute for Economics & Peace.
