National Pentagon Radio assumes nobody knows anything at all, which eats up some minutes.
It poses as reporting on whether a peace dividend exists or not, as if disinterestedly observing the weather, rather than addressing the question of what we should do.
It relentlessly calls militarism “defense.”
It sandwiches into the middle of this tiny report — on “public” radio — an advertisement for an investment fund that invests in weapons.
And yet it includes a bit of information on military conversion, and Miriam Pemberton gets some seconds to argue in favor of it, pointing out one of the minor benefits: survival of a habitable planet.
One just has to hope that what makes it into such reports is enough to convert some person out there who has never heard of conversion.
