The signatory organizations express our solidarity with the Ukrainian conscientious objector Yurii Sheliazhenko, who is a member of the board of directors of World BEYOND War and the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement, facing harassment by the Ukrainian secret services, who on August 3 raided his home, and delivered a notice filing charges by the Ukrainian government, falsely accusing him of supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Yuri is a conscientious objector to military service, he is a pacifist, defender of Peace, who has called for a ceasefire on numerous occasions, has condemned the war between the two countries, requesting that negotiations and a dialogue be able to put the end to war.
We call on the Ukrainian government to respect the rights of conscientious objectors, their fundamental rights and to drop the charges against them, not even war can justify the violation of their fundamental rights.
Las organizaciones aquí firmantes expresamos nuestra solidaridad con el objetor de conciencia ucraniano Yurii Sheliazhenko, quien es miembro de la junta directiva de World BEYOND War y del Movimiento Pacifista Ucraniano, frente al hostigamiento y acoso de los servicios secretos de Ucrania, quienes el día 3 de Agosto allanaron su casa, y entregaron una notificación con la presentación de cargos penales por parte del gobierno de Ucrania, acusándole falsamente de apoyar la invasión de Rusia a Ucrania.
Yuri es un objetor de conciencia al servicio militar, es un pacifista, defensor de la Paz, que ha realizado en numerosas oportunidades llamados al cese al fuego, ha condenado la guerra entre ambos países, solicitando que pueda darse negociaciones y un diálogo que ponga el fin a la guerra.
Hacemos un llamado al gobierno de Ucrania a respetar los derechos de los objetores de conciencia, sus derechos fundamentales y a retirar los cargos en su contra, ni siquiera la guerra puede justificar la violación a sus derechos fundamentales.
