Cut The Bloated War Budget: An Open Letter to US Senators

Bernie Sanders speaking about NDAA, June 2020

June 29, 2020

Sixty-one organizations (including World BEYOND War) have come together to send an open letter to every member of the US Senate on behalf of Amendment 1788, introduced by Senators Bernie Sanders and Ed Markey.

The amendment would reduce the Pentagon’s budget from $740.5 billion to $666.5 billion while exempting military personnel and health programs. It also would establish a $74 billion grant program, administered by the U.S. Department of Treasury, to create jobs and to provide health care, housing, child care and educational opportunities in inner cities and rural towns with a poverty rate of at least 25%.

Please join us in sharing this letter widely. The complete letter is here:

  1. I would very much like to have my name and organization added to this letter. I also wonder that Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, US Section, is not listed.
