World BEYOND War Joins Those Standing for Law and Order, and Not Netanyahu

By World BEYOND War, July 25, 2024

Wednesday, the United States Congress gave ear to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s plan to continue the slaughter in Gaza, greeting him warmly, assuring him of the United States’s unwavering support. They (minus the brave hundred or so reps that boycotted or criticized him) were supporting an accused war criminal in clear violation of numerous domestic and international laws — laws that had been put into place expressly for the purpose of preventing what is now happening in Palestine. Over 5,000 people occupied the streets around the U.S. capitol, despite heavy police presence, to cry Cease fire!, No more weapons to Israel!, and Arrest this war criminal!  WBW board member John Reuwer was there to witness the resistance.
Code Pink makes a mock arrest of Netanyahu as he is awash in the blood of babies killed by his soldiers.

Many people, local and visitors from dozens of different organizations, were there to call for an end to war.

Among them was Tiffany Goodwin Van Camp, who we met on Zoom this week as Combatants for Peace accepted the 2024 Organizational War Abolisher of the Year Award from World BEYOND War.

There were many artistic expressions of the anguish so many of us feel at the brutality of what is happening in Paestine with U.S. tax dollars and political support.

Everyone was  fully aware of the huge police presence (3 DC-based departments, 200 officers from the NYPD, and a helicopter overhead at all times) to keep citizens many blocks away from the Capitol and other federal buildings. There was no lack of irony in the huge cost to taxpayers for protecting a war criminal.
