WBW’s Alumni Network Program 2024

How can we support peacebuilders to improve their practice?
This year-long program offers up to 30 World BEYOND War (WBW) alumni from around the world an opportunity to engage in a developmental journey that brings together participatory learning and action in support of pro-peace and anti-war efforts. The program includes needs analyses, dialogues, training sessions, support groups, coaching, and support to carry out and communicate interventions aimed at making a real-world impact. Over the course of 10 online sessions throughout the year, participants will:
  • Explore challenges and opportunities for peace in the context of war and militarism.
  • Access support, resources, and tools to support pro-peace and anti-war efforts.
  • Benefit from capacity building and networking opportunities.
  • Share knowledge, experiences, and practices on a broad range of peace and war topics across diverse contexts, disciplines, and sectors.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate interventions aimed at making a direct positve impact on issues of peace and security.
  • Gain experience integrating education, research, activism, and advocacy work.
  • Engage in work that integrates the inner and outer dimensions of peace and positive change work.
  • Showcase and celebrate their learnings and actions to an international audience.
  • Explore ideas to upscale their work in the interests of sustainability through follow-up actions.

Phase 1 of the program (February-May) will focus on understanding the current situation and capacity-building opportunities, while Phase 2 (June-December) will focus on the design, implementation, evaluation, and communication of interventions. As with WBW’s work in general, these interventions can take different forms, involving education, activism, and/or communication strategies. Examples may include educational events, training sessions, and workshops, the creation of tools, resources, and materials, awareness campaigns, dialogues, activism, advocacy, public information and engagement initiatives as well as artistic efforts such as music, dance, theatre, and visual arts. Interventions will be context-specific, grounded in a needs analysis, and can be large or small in scale. Throughout the program, WBW will provide support and infrastructure, while doing its own inquiry to explore new ways of better supporting our alumni to improve their praccties by brining together participatory inquiry and action in support of leadership for pro-peace and anti-war efforts.
