As President-elect Joe Biden promises “change”, there are indicators that his incoming administration’s vision could be grounded in the past-namely when it comes to foreign policy. Among other “Obama era” veterans, word is, Biden plans to make the controversial choice of naming Victoria Nuland as undersecretary of state for political affairs. RT’s Alex Mihailovich has more. Then, Executive Director of WorldBeyondWar.org David Swanson and Fmr. CIA Analyst Ray McGovern join In Question to discuss.

There’s more to foreign policy than covered in this short though useful interview.
The most salient question is Venezuela, though I fear we already have the answers. Backed to some extent even by Bernie Sanders, Biden is likely to continue the cruel and illegal sanctions and other acts of hostility that are causing enormous suffering and many deaths. Perhaps it’s more possible that Biden will ease Pompouseo’s ratcheting up of sanctions against Cuba.
With Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia and (soon, I hope) Ecuador showing some independence from Uncle Sam, Biden could adopt a less arrogant and imperial stance to the hemisphere than his predecessors. (Remember that Obama started the sanctions against Venezuela under false pretext.)
