Video: Peace Means Mutual Respect, Not Universal Love

By Pacifist Barricade, December 8, 2024

It is very difficult to fight for one of the marginalized causes even in progressive circles. Too few grants, visibility, and power can be gained by supporting what should concern us all: peace. And yet, today we have the pleasure of presenting a conversation with one of the most effective and devoted pacifist activists: Reiner Braun. He is a historian, journalist, and pacifist activist, and the executive director of the international organization International Peace Bureau. We will talk about moments when peace seemed to be better understood as a vital objective for all of us and moments when peace was marginalized. We will also discuss parties that, at least in theory, should be progressive and pursue peace, such as the Green Party in Germany. We’ve also talked about Alternative for Germany, the right-wing party that, at least from a distance, seemed to embrace a more pacifist agenda than other formations. There are also dissenting views within the pacifist movement, with some people displaying an obsessive aggressive attitude towards the USA or Russia. What should be done in these circumstances? Watch our discussion and write us your impressions!
