About Our Chapter
The security situation in South Sudan is gradually improving; however, communities continue to face persistent challenges. These include intercommunal and tribal conflicts, cattle raiding, revenge killings, armed robbery, and attacks on travelers by unidentified gunmen, particularly at night. Such insecurity continues to undermine social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
The root causes of these conflicts are largely linked to poverty, limited access to education, and manipulation by political actors. Many young people are exploited by individuals who provide them with money, drugs, or incentives to engage in violence and advance personal or political interests. As a result, youth are often divided into groups aligned with influential individuals, further deepening divisions within communities.
Despite these challenges, the government, along with local and international partners, is implementing measures to restore peace and strengthen community cohesion, particularly among young people. The South Sudan Chapter of World BEYOND War is committed to promoting sustainable peace and security, through the following actions:
- Conduct continuous awareness campaigns targeting youth, community elders, traditional leaders, and political actors on the importance of peace and social cohesion
- Facilitate local mediation processes between armed or conflicting groups to encourage disarmament and peaceful dialogue for sustainable development
- Support school dropout programs for both girls and boys, encouraging them to return to school and reduce illiteracy, which contributes to cycles of violence
- Organize counseling, trauma healing, and forgiveness workshops to support individuals and communities affected by conflict
- Promote sports as a tool for fostering trust, unity, and cooperation among citizens
As a growing chapter, we remain open to collaboration, guidance, and innovative approaches that can strengthen our impact and advance the cause of peace.

Thawra!
As a child, I loved dystopias. I was fascinated by the way things suddenly changed in unexpected ways. I loved observing the heroism of the characters. #WorldBEYONDWar
