Ghana is situated in West Africa with a strategic coastline of over 500 km. It plays a crucial role in maritime security and trade. However, the rise of Sahel-based extremist threats in the north calls for proactive peacebuilding efforts beyond military action. The World BEYOND War chapter in Ghana is established to foster sustainable peace and security by addressing emerging threats through nonviolent solutions. While over $300 million is spent on military expenses, investing this in education, healthcare, and youth empowerment can drive long-term stability and economic growth. The chapter focuses on conflict resolution through mediation workshops with local chiefs and youth leaders, as well as public dialogues on disarmament to promote nonviolence and security reforms. By strengthening regional stability and international collaboration, the chapter aims to build a more peaceful and prosperous Ghana.
