World BEYOND War is expanding with new chapters in Ethiopia, Ghana and Libya!
We are extending our mission to promote peace and justice to new countries, reinforcing our commitment to ending conflict and finding peaceful solutions through nonviolent actions.
Three new chapters of World BEYOND War officially launched their activities during a webinar where the coordinators presented their country security context and what they want to do to address conflicts.
Meet our new Chapter Coordinators:
ETHIOPIA
Nuru Abdu Mohammed
Nuru Abdu Mohammed is from Ethiopia. He works as an Assistant Lecturer of Sociology and Social Anthropology. In addition to teaching, he is committed to peacebuilding and activism for nonviolent movements centered on youth.
GHANA
Jefferson Tanko Batesimah
Jefferson Tanko Batesimah is a teacher and Mathematics student at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He is a passionate advocate for peace, disarmament, climate change, and youth empowerment. He serves as the Team Lead for the Teens Health Network and the Africa Youth Disarmament Network and is actively engaged in global campaigns against landmines, cluster munitions, nuclear weapons and autonomous weapons. He is also a member of the Stop Killer Robots Youth Network, a Mines Action Fellow, and a volunteer with the Foundation for Security and Development in Africa.
LIBYA
Tariq Alferis
Tariq Alferis is a dedicated physician and human rights advocate, championing inclusivity, equity, and social justice. With a focus on empowering marginalized communities, Tariq has worked tirelessly to advance the rights of women, youth, and individuals with disabilities. As the Executive Director of the Sanad Foundation for Oncology Patients, he has supported cancer patients in reclaiming their dignity and resilience. A fellow with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), Tariq has contributed to international human rights initiatives, collaborating with global organizations to promote youth empowerment, gender equality, and the protection of vulnerable populations in conflict zones. His mission is to build inclusive, rights-based platforms that foster justice and social cohesion.
