Together with Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya, World BEYOND War commemorated the 45th International Day of Peace in Manilla with a public event held at a wall of remembrance bearing the names of many anti-martial-law heroes in the Philippines.
In the Philippines, the day also marked the 54th Commemoration of the Declaration of Martial Law. For 14 years, the country and its people suffered from militaristic rule, from which they still carry the effects in the form of corruption, political patronage, and elitism.
