By World BEYOND War, June 3, 2025

Today in the National Assembly of Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño, former Foreign Minister of Ecuador and now a parliamentarian in Ecuador, spoke against the initiative to amend Article 5 of the Ecuadorian Constitution and allow the establishment of foreign military bases in the country.

One Response

  1. US bases should be expelled from Ecuador! In 2007 I visited Manta base in Ecuador the US large military baser. Rafael Correa had promised that if he was eleceted pfresident in 2006 the base agreement with the US should be abolished. He won the election. It was an important victory for the Ecuadorian people and the base agreement was NOT renewed. But his prodessessor Lenin Moreno ruined it all and the US was allowed in again..I urge you to take a brave stand on US basesn in Ecuador.
