About Our Chapter
The Country sits on the East African part of the African Continent, bordering Tanzania to the South, Uganda to the West, Somalia to the North, and Ethiopia, South Sudan to the North West. Kenya is home to over 50 million people, a melting pot of different cultures, ethnicities and races. Kenya today faces a variety of peace and security challenges, obtaining from violent extremism and the ever-present specter of terrorism. Though Kenya has remained an island in a region plagued by internal strife and wars, Kenya continues to stare at the prospect of internal security challenges which include cattle rustling, and constant fights between agrarian and pastoralist communities, inter-ethnic polarization and tribal bigotry.
The Kenyan chapter of World BEYOND War focuses on the following programs:
• Peace Education
• Training and Advocacy
• Democracy and Good Governance
• Protection of Human and People Rights
• Social Justice and Gender Mainstreaming
• Climate Justice
