We denounce Canada’s planned purchase of 88 F-35 war planes from U.S. military giant Lockheed Martin.
These are stealth fighter jets designed for first strike attacks, not for defensive operations.
The devastating use of F-35s in thousands of hours of flights and bombing missions over Gaza during the past 17 months demonstrates precisely what the “most advanced fighter jet” was designed to do – kill civilians by turning schools, hospitals, refugee camps and entire cities to ruins.
This is an American weapons system through and through. The F-35 source code is processed through specialized American computing facilities. Canada would be dependent on the U.S.’ approval and U.S. supply chains for parts, maintenance and upgrades. As such, Washington would effectively have a “kill switch” on Canada’s new fighter jets.
Amidst President Donald Trump’s economic siege and annexation threats against Canada, it is unfathomable to pay a U.S. military giant $19 billion for 88 F-35 fighter jets (with a lifecycle cost that will top $70 billion).
It’s time to stand up to the U.S. war machine, to Trump’s economic siege, to Lockheed Martin and to the military industrial complex.
It’s time to cancel the F35 fighter jet contract.
Please take a minute to call on Prime Minister Mark Carney and all of the party leaders to immediately halt plans to buy F-35s by filling out the form below.
