Desde la campaña América una Zona de Paz, queremos expresar nuestro rechazo por la presencia cada vez más amenazante del Comando en Sur en la región, en días recientes ha sido anuncia por la general Laura Richardson, la llegada del porta avión estadounidense George Washington a Colombia a finales del mes de Junio, para realizar ejercicios militares en el pacífico colombiano.
La IV Flota, también tiene previsto realizar durante todo el mes de junio, maniobras militares junto a Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Uruguay, además de visitar los puertos de Brasil y Perú, todo esto forma parte de las acciones denominada “Southern Seas 2024”, las cuáles son las más claras expresión de las actitudes guerreristas de Estados Unidos.
En los últimos meses hemos visto la intensa agenda desarrollada por la representante del Comando Sur Laura Richardson, en la región, visitando de manera recurrente varios países, siempre con un mismo mensaje, cómo asegurar que América Latina siga siendo la principal zona de influencia por parte de Estados Unidos.
En diferentes conferencias de prensa y entrevistas, ha dicho claramente que Estados Unidos debe asegurarse el control sobre los ingentes recursos estratégicos que se encuentran en la América Latina y el Caribe (LAC), de tipo energéticos, minerales, acuíferos y de biodiversidad.
En un contexto donde la humanidad se encuentra a las puertas de una nueva guerra mundila, nosotros reafirmamos la importancia que nuestra región siga siendo una Zona de Paz, tal cómo lo proclamó la Cumbre de la CELAC en La Habana en Enero del año 2014.
Desde la campaña, queremos denunicar que la presencia del Comando Sur en nuestro continente es una clara amenaza hacia nuestros pueblos, tenemos clara comprensión que esto busca afianzar la presencia militar de Estados Unidos en el continente, establecer nuevas bases militares, ampliar la presencia la OTAN en LAC, así como la posibilidad de alojar en nuestra región armas nucleares, frente a una eventual conflagración mundial.
Pedimos a todas las organizaciones y movimientos sociales, denunciar esta nueva amenaza a la Paz, así como a la estabilidad de la región, desde este campaña nos proponemos desarrollar una intensa agenda de movilización y acción para exigir la sálidad del Comando Sur, así como el cierre de todas las bases militares.

From the America a Zone of Peace campaign, we want to express our rejection of the increasingly threatening presence of the Southern Command in the region. In recent days, General Laura Richardson has announced the arrival of the U.S. aircraft carrier George Washington to Colombia, at the end of June, to carry out military exercises in the Colombian Pacific.
The IV Fleet also plans to carry out military maneuvers with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay throughout the month of June, in addition to visiting the ports of Brazil and Peru. All of this is part of the actions called “Southern Seas 2024”, which are the clearest expression of the warlike attitudes of the United States government.
In recent months we have seen the intense agenda developed by the representative of the Southern Command Laura Richardson, in the region, repeatedly visiting several countries, always with the same message, how to ensure that Latin America continues to be the main area of influence of the United States.
In different press conferences and interviews, she has clearly said that the United States must ensure control over the enormous strategic resources found in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), such as energy, minerals, aquifers, and biodiversity.
In a context where humanity is on the verge of a new world war, we reaffirm the importance of our region continuing to be a Zone of Peace, as proclaimed by the CELAC Summit in Havana in January 2014.
From the campaign, we want to denounce that the presence of the Southern Command on our continent is a clear threat to our people, we have a clear understanding that this seeks to strengthen the military presence of the United States on the continent, establish new military bases, expand the presence of NATO in LAC, as well as the possibility of hosting nuclear weapons in our region, in the face of a possible global conflagration.
We ask all organizations and social movements to denounce this new threat to Peace, as well as to the stability of the region, from this campaign we propose to develop an intense agenda of mobilization and action to demand the health of the Southern Command, as well as the closure of all military bases.
