WBW Chapters Marked Anniversaries of Nuclear Bombings

By World BEYOND War, August 10, 2023

The Pivot2Peace South Georgian Bay Chapter of World BEYOND War in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, was one of many WBW chapters and affiliates to organize or participate in events this year marking the August 6 and/or 9 anniversaries of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Their event was announced in Collingwood Today.

An appropriate location was chosen for the event in Collingwood. Collingwood’s Friendship Gardens were built to mark the twin city relationship that the town has with Katano, Japan. The twin designation has been in place since 1981.

Events across Canada were promoted by Peace Quest.

World BEYOND War has also sought to use the opening of the film Oppenheimer to educate people out of various myths related to the nuclear bombings.
