Mark Birnbaum is researcher and organizer intern for World BEYOND War in Canada. He is a community worker and organizer from Toronto. He has a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Western Ontario, and recently graduated from George Brown College’s Community Worker program as a registered social service worker.
Mark grounds his organizing through an anti-oppressive framework, shaped by a critical study of colonialism, white supremacy, systemic violence, and their continued impacts in Canada and the world.
Through his work, Mark engages in relational organizing, volunteer coordination, and political education initiatives. He has led a canvassing program aimed at engaging neighbours on the the topics of genocide, imperialism, and collective liberation, facilitated trainings, mentored new organizers, and conducted community outreach.
Through education, empowerment, and solidarity — and as a husband and father of two children — Mark hopes one day to see a world beyond war.
