Jhay de Jesus is World BEYOND War’s Asia Organizer. He is a Filipino political activist, a cultural worker, and a human rights defender. His journey as an activist began when he was a student in a state university, where he realized that concerns within the academic halls, such as budget cuts, tuition fee increases, and issues related to academic freedom reflected the larger society. Then he devoted his time to volunteering full-time for various sectoral and thematic organizations. His experience as an activist involves organizing, campaign design and implementation, communication and education work, protest actions, and lobbying work.
