On January 14, 2025, the Montreal chapter of World BEYOND War hosted a Zoom Teach-in with Benoit Allard, spokesperson for the Collectif Désinvestir pour la Palestine. If you are a Québec taxpayer, you are probably one of the more than six million people in Québec who contribute to the CDPQ. As of December 2023, about $14.2 billion of CDPQ investments—our money—was in companies that are complicit in the genocide of Palestinians. This is unacceptable. This Teach-in is a chance to educate ourselves and learn what we can do as Québecers to get public money out of arms companies and their ilk, so that it can be reinvested in socially responsible holdings. Benoit Allard is the spokesperson for Désinvestir pour la Palestine, a coalition of citizens, activists and civil society groups involved in the Palestinian struggle in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. Since June 2024, it has been leading a campaign to get the Caisse de dépôt to withdraw the $14.2 billion it holds in over 80 companies complicit in the occupation and genocide in Palestine.
