VIDEO from Incheon Airport Press Conference

Dear Supporters of the Task Force to Stop THAAD in Korea,
Thank you to everyone who responded to the Action Alert sent out yesterday morning. Hundreds of people sent letters to South Korean President Moon Jae-In and the Blue House demanding that the entry ban on Korean-American peace activist Juyeon Rhee be lifted immediately.

Among the over 200 groups and individuals who have sent the protest message are well-known peace activists and influential figures who work for human rights, including: Chase Iron Eyes, Liberation Alley, Standing Rock Sioux Nation; Alice Walker, American Novelist, National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize Winner; Mairead Maguire, Nobel peace laureate; Cornel West, religion scholar and public intellectual; Miko Peled, Israeli-American author, Palestinian human rights activist; and Chris Hedges, Pulitzer Prize and Amnesty International Global Award for Human Rights Journalism.

(If you have not yet sent a letter, please do so now — info here.)

We are writing to send you an update on the delegation:

This morning (U.S. Time), members of the Solidarity Peace Delegation — with the exception of STIK’s Juyeon Rhee, who was denied entry by the South Korean government — arrived in South Korea.

Upon arriving at Incheon Airport, two members of the delegation — Medea Benjamin of CODEPINK and Will Griffin of Veterans For Peace — stood with representatives of the National Action Opposing THAAD Deployment in South Korea to demand the South Korean government immediately lift the entry ban on Juyeon Rhee. They held a press conference to discuss the tremendous response to the call to protest the ban and also briefly discussed the delegation’s plans to meet with and support the people of Seongju, who are struggling against the deployment of the THAAD missile system.
