I have no doubt that everything reported in this video was true up until the recent past and potentially continues to be true in some instances. What is missing from the analysis is the deep offense and concern Canadians, as individuals and collectively as a nation, have taken when we were economically attacked, undermined, misquoted, and treated as enemies rather than as the allies that we use to be, and as has been so articulately outlined in the video. With our Sovereignty under attack through economic means all bets are off. To quote our former PM: “never mistake our generosity for weakness”. If attacked the Canadian military will defend our country. Winning a military war is questionable, but stepping up to defend the country is not in question.
I completely agree on the real concerns and deep feelings of offense. The issue this video lays bare so clearly is that the Canadian military cannot in fact function separately from the US military, and this is becoming more and more true every time PM Carney commits to billions upon billions in new hardware that literally cannot be operated without cooperation from the US. The new Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets Canada is buying, for instance, are an American weapons system through and through. The F-35 source code is processed through specialized American computing facilities. Canada would be dependent on the U.S.’ approval and U.S. supply chains for parts, maintenance and upgrades. As such, Washington would effectively have a “kill switch” on Canada’s new fighter jets. Even the new war ships being purchased, while built by Irving, have a command and combat management system controlled by the US and that is designed for joint missions with the US.
