Israel’s U.S. provisioned genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank rages on, unchallenged by most of the world’s nation states.
Worldwide, anti-genocide activists must explore ways to channel their outrage and anger by directly challenging corporations that support Israel. This includes resisting not only military contractors shipping weapons to Israel, but also the war technology corporations that enable Israel’s genocide. Francesca Albanese specified technological conglomerates, such as Amazon and Google, that provide war technology, enabling Israel’s terrifying surveillance, targeting, and murder of civilians.
The U.S. decision to sanction UN Rapporteur Francesca Albanese because she specified corporations complicit in Israeli genocide shows that calls for boycotts, divestment, and sanctions hit a nerve in the U.S./Israeli Military Industrial complex.
In Northampton, Massachusetts, an exemplary campaign has been launched, calling on consumers to boycott Whole Foods, a corporation owned by Amazon.
For many months, the Northampton activists have been acutely conscious of Israel’s targeted attacks that have killed journalists, health care professionals, rescue workers, and others who have witnessed and protested Israel’s war crimes. The pernicious targeting relies on technology supplied by Amazon, and the Northampton activists realized that Amazon could have an Achilles Heel in its ownership of Whole Foods. Knowing that Israel uses Amazon’s technology to deliberately target people who bear witness to the genocide, the Northampton activists call on their neighbors, friends, and general consumers to boycott Whole Foods until it rejects complicity with Amazon. This feels very much like the time of Shambala, when humans are very technologically clever, but all the leaders will be interested in will be war. Then people all around the world will come together to save each other and the planet. It is becoming increasingly obvious that our so called leaders are generally corrupt, and don’t care about us or anybody else.
