Vigil Takes Opposition to Genocide to Dickens Festival on Long Island

By Vigil For Gaza, Port Jefferson Village, Long Island, New York, December 8, 2025

At our weekly vigil this week, we became part of the Dickens Festival held here annually, with dozens of protestors reading Palestinian poems, handing out flyers, and engaging with those walking by — and with our digital billboard truck defining our message.

Our message is the continued focus on the genocide in Gaza: the “moral compass.” Vigil For Gaza represents our mission, making a connection between Dickensian times and present-day Gaza.

We continue to be a strong presence in our Port Jefferson, NY, USA community every Sunday from 1:00-2:30pm bringing the message of: No More War, Stop the bombing, No Suffolk County NY tax dollars for genocide, and free Palestine.
