Organizimi për Paqe në një Komunitet Refugjatësh në Ugandë

Më 24 dhe 25 gusht 2026, World BEYOND War Isingiro-Nakivale chapter in Uganda organized a community outreach and conflict resolution training session at the Nakivale refugee camp, supported through the African chapters support program. This activity is part of the chapter’s project to build a culture of peace based on nonviolence and practical actions to resolve conflicts peacefully. The two-day activity was organized to spread the vision of World BEYOND War and promote peace among refugees from different countries who fled war and are now in Uganda. Against the difficult realities of displacement, the outreach brought 35 women and men together for discussions on peace, nonviolence, tolerance, and conflict resolution.

During the two days, participants were given the opportunity to express themselves and share their experiences. Discussions focused on common conflicts and challenges within the community and encouraged participants to reflect on practical ways to create positive outcomes and promote peaceful coexistence. It was the occasion to listen to their stories, hear their concerns, and better understand some of the challenges they face in their communities. By doing so, the activity helped to increase awareness of the mission and work of World BEYOND War, namely about the need to end the wars that are responsible for this situation, and the importance of building a culture of peace in which conflicts can be addressed without violence.

On the second day, the conflict resolution was the focus. It gave participants the space to discuss conflicts affecting families and communities, and explored ways to manage and resolve disagreements through dialogue, understanding, tolerance, and nonviolence. Participants reflected on their own experiences and identified peaceful responses to challenges they face in their daily lives. Under the lead of the chapter coordinator, some conflicts were discussed and addressed during the same day, while participants also embraced forgiveness and reconciliation as important elements of peaceful coexistence.

For the refugees, the activity was important in the sense that it took peacebuilding directly to the community and created a space where people can speak openly about their concerns. For the chapter coordinator, the outreach helped to share WBW’s vision while encouraging participants to become active contributors to peace in their families and communities.
