On January 17, 2026, 42 actions took place in 11 countries for the Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela, which had been called for by World BEYOND War and endorsed by 42 organizations worldwide.
Demonstrators called for an end to U.S. hostility toward Venezuela, including sanctions, threats, and war. The action demands were:
Many actions expanded their demands to include calls for no wars and imperialism anywhere, including Venezuela, Palestine, Iran, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, and Greenland. Protesters across the U.S. also included calls for defunding ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and demilitarization of U.S. cities.

An art build took place in Toronto, Canada, creating signs and banners to show solidarity with Venezuela.
Canadian Voice of Women for Peace and WILPF-Canada organized a rally “No War Against Venezuela” in the Waterloo Public Square. We also signed an open letter to the US Ambassador of Canada and to our Minister of Foreign Affairs to say “Hands Off Venezuela.” CTV News covered the action.

On January 17th, Japan for a World BEYOND War did a street protest as part of World BEYOND War’s Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela. YAMAMOTO Mihagi, one of the most prominent and important advocates for peace in this region of Japan, and someone who has worked for peace consistently ever since the Vietnam War, spoke about how the U.S’s attack on Venezuela violated the UN Charter and international law. In the speech, YAMAMOTO Mihagi called out the current Japanese Prime Minister, Takaichi, who has not said a single word criticizing Trump or calling his actions a violation of international law.
The Aotearoa New Zealand – Te Waipounamu South Island Chapter of World BEYOND War joined in the Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela on January 17.
The Golden Bay Peace Group participated in the World BEYOND War day of action by organizing a vigil on the Village Green on the main street in the middle of Tākaka. The event widened the concept to include all those impacted by conflict and colonisation.
On Saturday, the regular weekly Gaza/Palestine Solidarity Network, Hawkes Bay protest in Napier / Ahuriri was focused on the actions in Venezuela. Around 40 people took part, with flags from Venezuela featured.
World BEYOND War Vice President Liz Remmerswaal spoke about recent occurrences in Venezuela, and called for the New Zealand government to make a stance supporting Venezuela, and against the illegal actions of the United States.
Slovak civic association United for Peace / Zjednotení za mier organized a GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION IN SOLIDARITY WITH VENEZUELA that took place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Hviezdoslavovo námestie in Bratislava in Slovakia, where all peace-loving people met under the statue of our greatest anti-war poet, Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav, directly in front of the US Embassy.
The organizer of the demonstration, civic association United for Peace, also invited representatives of all parliamentary clubs in the National Council of the Slovak Republic and the representatives of the Embassy of Venezuela to the Slovak Republic, giving them the opportunity to express their commitment to upholding international law and promoting peace in the world. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Austria, concurrently Accredited to Slovenia, Slovakia and Croatia, H. E. Claudia Salerno Caldera, Slovak members of EU Parliament – Ms. Judita Laššáková and Mr. Ľuboš Blaha, as well as Mr. Artur Bekmatov – advisor to the Slovak Prime Minister R. Fico and lawyer Mr. Branislav Fábry were among the speakers. The rally was moderated by the President of United for Peace Mr. Eduard Chmelár.
We united against the arbitrary use of force to resolve conflicts, raised our voices against the threat of world war, and sent a message to politicians that we expect not only words but deeds in favour of peace and peaceful coexistence on Earth.
Third Act Vermont organized a protest rally along Main Street in Chester, Vermont. More than 50 people attended despite an ongoing snowstorm.
The Central Ohio Peace Network in Columbus, Ohio gathered for a public action for peace and justice and against ICE, with the demand, “HANDS Off Venezuela, Iran, and our communities.”
A small but amazing group of activists braved the weather in Concord, NH to stand out on Saturday afternoon and call for No War on Venezuela! Organized by NH Peace Action.
About 28 people with signs and energy galore showed up in 4 degree F weather at the busy intersection closest to the military base closest to Fairbanks for the January 17, 2026, Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela and in Opposition to Imperial Wars. The protest was organized by the Alaska Peace Center, an affiliate of WBW. There were appreciative honks and only a couple of aggressively revved engines. A reporter from the local newspaper, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, took pictures and interviewed participants — read the story here.
Over 70 people attended the action in Greenfield, MA, organized by Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution. The event included several speakers, music, pots and pans, and signs.
The Democrat Women of Mercer County, PA organized a rally in Hermitage, PA from noon – 2 pm on January 17. Over 200 people showed up despite freezing temperatures.

Peace, Justice, Sustainability, NOW! organized two actions in Philadelphia on January 17 for the Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela, one at City Hall and a second action at the Lightning Bolt Sculpture.
Grant County Indivisible organized an anti-war demonstration in Platteville, WI. 30 people showed up in 15 degree weather!
The community-based rally on Long Island in solidarity with the Global Day of Action drew about 50 people representing several diverse local organizations. The program included music and speakers featuring longtime Veterans For Peace member Bill McNulty. Messaging included signs demanding HANDS OFF Venezuela, Iran, Greenland, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico and US cities like Minneapolis – stressing the fact that our Wars Abroad Have Come Home. The crowd received mostly positive feedback from drivers passing the busy intersection. Bill McNulty, host of a program on WUSB-FM Radio at Stony Brook University, conducted interviews with protesters for next week’s show.
A stalwart group of 4 demonstrators gathered amidst cold temperatures in the small town of Rogers City, Michigan. Participants held signs and received positive horn honks and waves of support from passersby.
In Mexico City, the Oscar Guzman muralist brigade organized the creation of a mural in solidarity with Venezuela for the global day of action.
