Madison, Wisc., Holds War Abolition Walk

By Madison for a World BEYOND War, April 10, 2023

On Saturday, April 8, the Madison for a World BEYOND War chapter held its 28th War Abolition Walk to call on elected officials to reduce military spending, stop F-35 warplanes from coming to Wisconsin, and push for diplomacy to end the war in Ukraine.

Saturday’s walk began at the Farmers Market at Garver Feed Mill with bannering and flyering, and then proceeded along the Capital City Trail bike path. Participants made their way to the pedestrian bridge over E Washington Ave, at N Marquette St, to vigil with banners and greet drivers and bikers. The walk then passed by Madison College and concluded outside the gates of Truax ANG Base, to oppose the basing of F-35 fighter jets in Madison.

Participants handed out many flyers and had good conversations with many people during the whole trek to Madison College; they also received many car honks while bannering on the overpasses.

The event received prime time coverage on Channel 3000 local evening news.
