About Our Chapter
The Gambia is located in West Africa, a country known for its vibrant culture and warm hospitality. Gambia, with its unique geographical position surrounding the Gambia River, offers a rich history and diverse heritage. The country gained independence from British colonial rule in 1965, shaping its identity and values over the years.
The security in Gambia is generally stable, with the government prioritizing the safety of its citizens and visitors. The country has made efforts to enhance security measures to ensure a peaceful environment for residents and tourists. While it’s essential to stay informed about local guidelines and potential risks, Gambia is known for its welcoming atmosphere and peaceful coexistence among its diverse population.
The World BEYOND War Gambia Chapter is a powerful way to advocate for global peace and work towards ending wars. The chapter in Gambia brings together like-minded individuals who share our passion for peace. Through education, awareness campaigns, and community engagement, we raise consciousness about the devastating impacts of conflicts around Foni and Casamance and promote peaceful alternatives. The chapter serves as a platform for collaboration, organizing events, and fostering dialogue on conflict resolution. Together with other chapters of World BEYOND War, we amplify our voices and inspire positive change, not just in Gambia, but globally. Every step towards peace matters, and the chapter in Gambia can make a significant difference in building a more peaceful world.
