U.S. Antiwar Leaders Call for Actions to Oppose the Escalation of the Afghanistan War During the Week of the 16th Anniversary of the Invasion, October 2 – 8.  Join Us
From: Nick Mottern <>
Dear Friends,

On Friday, October 6, 2017, from noon to 1 pm, at Trump Tower in downtown White Plains, NY,  please join us to protest the U.S. war in Afghanistan, a war that began on October 6, 16 years ago, and a war that has become, in many ways, a forgotten, permanent war.

Although every day Afghan people are being killed by U.S. ground and air attacks, and the social life of the country is being ravaged, the Afghanistan War is blacked out from U.S. television screens.  Even on MSNBC, the supposedly progressive channel, there is essentially no mention of this expanding war, as it is buried under layers of reporting on hurricanes, deportation of “dreamers”, Trump’s legal and emotional problems and Congressional shenanigans.

In protesting the Afghanistan War, we are demanding that attention be paid to the relentless day-to-day U.S. slaughter of Afghan people.  Surely, there is a place for this in the American consciousness.

This protest is in response to the joint call for action to get the U.S. out of Afghanistan, below, just issued by national anti-war organizers.  Please read the statement and check out to endorse the call and see what others are doing in protest.

Thank you for considering this.  We hope to see you at Trump Tower at noon on October 6.

In peace and solidarity,

Joe Lombardo and Nick Mottern
