Within the framework of the diploma course organized by the territorial Polytechnic University of the State of Mérida Kleber Ramírez, as well as by the Bolivarian Municipal Council of the State and the Movement of Mutual Solidarity Cuba-Venezuela, the organizer for Latin America of World BEYOND War, Gabriel Aguirre, made a presentation last Friday, January 17 with the title: “America a Zone of Peace, Southern Command and Military Bases.”
This activity was centered in the State of Mérida in Venezuela, a region of the Andes of the country, characterized by great tourist beauty, as well as the kindness and cordiality of its people.
The day began in the morning, with participation in a community radio program at the Campo Alegre Cultural Center, a space where the community-based movement has developed great work for the social care of the population of the place. During the interview, Gabriel Aguirre highlighted the importance of continuing to build spaces for training and education for Peace.
Later in the afternoon, the presentation began within the framework of the thematic section called: Geopolitics and Multipolarity, where Councilwoman Evelyn Quintero gave the welcoming and opening remarks for the day. Later, Gabriel Aguirre detailed the historical context of the development of Latin American society, as well as the geopolitical importance of this region of the world.
During the conference, which lasted a little over two hours, our vision of what America should be like as a Zone of Peace was presented, as well as the implications and threats to Peace that the presence of the Southern Command means.
The opportunity was also taken to present the map of the WBW military bases, inviting all attendees to visit the website. Nearly 60 guests participated during the activity.
We hope to continue building, together with other organizations and movements in Mérida, a world of peace, of social justice, without wars and without sanctions.

Conferencia en Venezuela, Sobre El Comando Sur y Las Bases Militares Extranjeras.
En el marco del diplomado que es organizado por la Universidad Politécnica territorial del Estado Mérida Kleber Ramírez, así como por el Consejo Municipal Bolivariano del Estado y el Movimiento de Solidaridad Mutua Cuba-Venezuela, el organizador para América Latina de Un Mundo Más Allá de la Guerra, Gabriel Aguirre realizó una presentación el pasado viernes 17 de Enero con el nombre: América una Zona de Paz, Comando Sur y Bases Militares.
Esta actividad tuvo como centro el Estado Mérida en Venezuela, una región de Los Andes del País, caracterizada por una gran belleza turística, así como la gentileza y cordialidad de su pueblo.
La jornada comenzó en horas de la mañana, con la participación en un programa de radio comunitaria en el Centro Cultura Campo Alegre, un espacio donde el movimiento de base comunal, ha desarrollado una gran labor para la atención social de la población del lugar. Durante la entrevista Gabriel Aguirre, destacó la importancia de seguir construyendo espacios para la formación y educación para la Paz.
Posteriormente en horas de la tarde comenzó el la presentación en el marco de la sección temática denominada: Geopolítica y Multipolaridad, donde la concejala Evelyn Quintero dio las palabras de bienvenida y de inicio de la jornada, posteriormente Gabriel Aguirre detalló el contexto histórico de desarrollo de la sociedad latinoamericana, así como la importancia geopolítica que tiene esta región del mundo.
Durante la conferencia que duró un poco más de dos horas, se presentó nuestra visión sobre lo que debe ser la América como una Zona de Paz, así como las implicaciones y amenazas a la Paz que significa la presencia del Comando Sur.
También se aprovechó la oportunidad para presentar el mapa sobre las bases militares de WBW, invitando a todos los asistentes a visitar el sitio web. Durante la actividad participaron cerca de 60 invitados.
Esperamos seguir construyendo junto a otras organizaciones y movimientos en Mérida un mundo de paz, de justicia social, sin guerras y sin sanciones.
