The Bioregion Aconcagua chapter of the Movement to end all wars “World BEYOND War” joins the tribute to Don Gaston Soublette a few days after his departure.
A being of cosmic stature who was the subject of a documentary called “The Sage of the Tribe” has passed away on May 25, 2025. This name portrays what many of us feel for him. He has been a great guide for many of us. He was awarded the National Prize of Humanities and Social Sciences of Chile 2023. He was also awarded by Mr. Alfredo Sfeir, from the International Association of Educators with the Peace Prize.
The Mapuche ethnic group recognized him as Kimche (Wise Man).
He translated the Tao Te Ching.
Fused his life in the path of the Christ.
He taught for years at the University.
He always honored the Planetary Initiative for the change we chose, led in Chile by the teacher Lola Hoffman, and others like Jacques-Yves Cousteau also led in other spaces.
He supported Violeta Parra’s music…
As a tribute, today we are launching a nine-minute audiovisual capsule that gives an account of his view of the people who awaken and work for peace.
Together with Diego Iorio, a trans-Andean documentary filmmaker and nomadic producer who focuses mainly on recording grandparents of ancestral wisdom, we had the opportunity to interview Don Gastón in 2023, months before his death on May 25, 2025.
We arrived at his home in Limache. We were totally committed to the task ahead of us and grateful for the opportunity. Don Gastón appears as a child in his nineties with a Confucius mask and a drawing of a Kultrún (symbol of the Mapuche Cosmovision). His entrance: as a giant.
This is how Grandpa told us what he wanted to talk about. We went to the point by asking him about the I CHING, which is an important book in the Chinese tradition and commented by Confucius, about “the sequences of heaven before and after”: He simply answered us that this was “the great difference between Lao Tzu and Confucius” because both understood that a major issue for Humanity is the return to Paradise or the return to the Origin, but both figures of ancient China had different approaches to this major issue.
But that difference between Lao Tse and Confucius that Grandpa Gaston explained to us is really a different matter and I will leave it for when the other capsules and the other edited records of the interview appear.
All this first capsule that we celebrate today, in which Don Gaston refers to the Alternative Culture, is because we asked him to understand that the public to which we wanted to direct this documentary, is that public that understands the dimension of the crisis and that is committed to a True Exit to the great quagmire in which we find ourselves as Humanity. So these 9 minutes of gift respond to that concern: What is this Alternative Culture that is emerging?
Homenaje Al Gran Abuelo Gaston Soublette

El capítulo Bioregión Aconcagua del Movimiento para terminar con todas las guerras “World Beyond War” se suma al homenaje a don Gastón Soublette a pocos días de su partida.-
Ha fallecido el 25 de Mayo 2025 un Ser de estatura cósmica al cual se le hizo un documental que se llamó el “Sabio de la Tribu”. Este nombre retrata lo que muchos sentimos por él. Ha sido un gran guía para muchos de nosotros. Fue galardonado con el premio nacional de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales de Chile 2023. También fue galardonado por don Alfredo Sfeir, de la asociación internacional de educadores con el premio por la Paz.
La etnia mapuche lo reconoció como Kimche (Hombre Sabio).
Tradujo el Tao Te King.
Fundió su vida en la senda del Cristo.
Enseñó por años en la Universidad.
Siempre honró a la Iniciativa planetaria para el cambio que elegimos que lideraba en Chile la maestra Lola Hoffman, y que otros como Jacques-Yves Cousteau también lideraban en otros espacios.

A modo de homenaje, hoy lanzamos una cápsula audiovisual de nueve minutos que da cuenta de su mirada acerca de las personas que despiertan y que trabajan por la Paz.
Junto a Diego Iorio, documentalista y productor nómade trasandino que se enfoca principalmente en el registro de abuelos de sabiduría ancestral, tuvimos la oportunidad de entrevistar a don Gastón en 2023, meses antes de su fallecimiento el 25 de Mayo de 2025.
Llegamos a su casa en Limache. Estábamos totalmente compenetrados con la tarea que se nos venía y agradecidos por la oportunidad. Aparece don Gastón como niño a sus noventa y tantos con una máscara de Confucio y con el dibujo de un Kultrún. (Símbolo de la Cosmovisión Mapuche). Su entrada: a lo gigante.
Nos decía de este modo el abuelo de qué quería hablar. Fuimos al grano consultándole por asuntos del I CHING que es un libro importante en la tradición china y comentado por Confucio, sobre “las secuencias del cielo anterior y posterior”: Nos respondió simplemente que de eso se trataba «la gran diferencia entre Lao Tsé y Confucio» porque ambos comprendían que un asunto principal para la Humanidad es el retorno al Paraíso o el retorno al Origen, pero ambas figuras de la China antigua tenían aproximaciones diferentes sobre este tema Mayor.
Pero esa diferencia entre Lao Tsé y Confucio que nos explicó el abuelo Gastón, en realidad es harina de otro costal y lo dejo para cuando aparezcan las otras cápsulas y los demás registros editados de la entrevista.
Toda esta primera cápsula que celebramos hoy, en que don Gastón se refiere a la Cultura Alternativa se debe a que le pedimos que entendiera que el público al cual queríamos dirigir este documental, es ese público que entiende la dimensión de la crisis y que está comprometida con una Salida Verdadera al gran atolladero en que nos encontramos como Humanidad. Así es que estos 9 minutos de regalo responden a esa inquietud: ¿De qué se trata esta Cultura Alternativa que emerge?
