Restoring Peace and Our Natural Environment

systemsForging a sustainable peace can be a daunting task. To make matters worse, society’s misplaced efforts to make us safe—such as spending $2 trillion every year on war-related activities rather than focusing our resources on sustainable practices—can weigh pretty heavily on us. But rather than allow ourselves to be deterred, we’ve proven that progress comes by inspiring one another to take the steps we can towards a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.

In response to the growing need for a holistic approach to solving the planet’s complex challenges, Northwest Earth Institute has released a new discussion course that puts the global system in context and demonstrates how our daily actions influence a peace and environmental/human health in both healthy and unhealthy ways. It’s called Seeing Systems, and it illuminates real pathways for individuals to spark change in their own communities, leading to broader collective change.

Northwest Earth Institute discussion courses are self-led and designed to help participants break big issues into bite-sized pieces to encourage a renewed sense of our role in the world. Through shared learning and discovery, participants are empowered to recognize and respond to the interconnected systems of the word, making effective community action both real and achievable.

Designed for use with community groups, college classrooms and faith communities, Seeing Systems offers people a unique opportunity to gather with others to reflect on the state of local and global affairs; discuss how we as individuals can contribute to a more peaceful, just and sustainable world; and then advocate on the issues that matter most.

Get inspired to organize your network or participate in a discussion course in your community, join us on a date to be announced soon for an exclusive webinar in partnership with NWEI and World Beyond War. Or give NWEI a call and we’ll walk you through the engagement process one-on-one.
