October 21-22

UDC Law School, Washington DC
4340 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008

  • Saturday October 21st:  9am-5pm

A broad range of arms trade and foreign policy experts will examine the current state of the war machine and divestment organizers will discuss what it takes to build successful divestment campaigns targeting different financial institutions. Speakers include: Andrew Feinstein, Vijay Prashad, Medea Benjamin, Ajamu Baraka, William Hartung, Jodie Evans, Lisa Renstrom, Lawrence Wilkerson, and more! Read the speakers’ bios here.

  • Sunday October 22nd: 10am-3pm

Sunday will be a day of organizing sessions focused on campaign planning and the nuts and bolts of implementation. People who are considering working on this campaign in their communities are strongly encouraged to attend.

Will someone from your organization be attending the Summit? Please register here.

We ask that you share this event via this link with every person and every list you can and that you post the event on your relevant calendars and social media. Flyers for the event are available here as a PDF. Please print and share widely.

We are open to additional speaker suggestions, especially regarding individuals with detailed divestment knowledge. If anyone from your organization would like to speak on Saturday or contribute to an organizing session on Sunday, please email haley@codepink.org to coordinate.

While we want you to attend the Summit, it will be livestreamed (Saturday only) and we encourage you to hold a viewing event in your community. Contact us if you’d like our help.

We will also be holding a special screening of an upcoming film, Shadow World, the evening before, Friday, October 20th. This film, based on Andrew Feinstein’s book, The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade, takes a critical look at the business of war by examining the profit-driven nature of endless warfare as well as the role corruption, greed, and illicit weapons dealings play in the global arms industry. The film will be released on U.S. television in November and will provide a strong background before hearing Andrew Feinstein speak on Saturday.
