RESISTANCE TO WAR

Mary Ann Wright is a retired United States Army colonel and retired U.S. State Departement official, known for her outspoken opposition to the Iraq War.

She is most noted for having been one of three State Department officials to publicly resign with an open letter to protest the US war plans against Iraq.

Since her retirement from the State Department, Wright became a prominent figure in the US peace movement. She participated actively in several protest actions¦nbsp; against the war and occupation in Iraq. She has been cited for trespassing at the Nevada Test Site to protest the continued development of nuclear weapons. She has been arrested, and later convicted, for disrupting hearings of a Senate Committee with antiwar messages. She was member of the first Gaza Flotilla that has been raided by Israeli forces.
